THIS was always going to be a close game. It started scrappy with few chances by either side.
Andrew Vernon and Paul Crease shot wide in good positions for Lewdown. Then against the run of play Chillaton were given a penalty after a foul by Mike Deacon and Andy Bartlett scored from the spot.
Lewdown had an indirect free kick which was despatched by Kevin Swift into the Chillaton goal but disallowed.
After a severe talking to by manager Keith Everard at half-time Lewdown started better in the second half and Kevin Smith pulled them level.
Vernon was then brought down inside the penalty box and Swift scored from the spot for a 2-1 lead.
Chillaton were reduced to ten men when a player was sent off for foul language.
Lewdown finally got daylight when Vernon crossed from the left and Swift completed his hat-trick.
Chillaton pulled a goal back from a corner which was bundled in at the near post.
Lewdown have now won seven straight league games and are sixth in the league.

LEWDOWN almost conceded a goal in the first minute after a defensive error, but the Pensilva striker blazed over. Lewdown then went behind after 20 minutes, but pulled a goal back when Paul Crase scored from the left hand side.
Lewdown went 2-1 up when Andrew Vernon set up Keith Everard. Shortly after scoring Everard went off injured.
By half time the game should have been won but missed chances from Andrew Vernon, Richard Metters and Danny Partridge kept the score at 2-1.
The second half was fairly even with Vernon and Kevin Swift having excellent games in midfield. Pensilva equalised after another defensive error.
Metters missed an excellent chance to extend the lead but his header from a Partridge cross flew over.
Lewdown went down to ten men when keeper Justin Whyatt was sent off for handling outside the box. They reorganised and Will Farr and Peter Rockell came on for Partridge and Jamie Grindley.
With the ten men Lewdown battled on and after Metters' hand hit the post he finally headed the winner after a cross from Crease.
