A CELEBRATION service is to take place at All Saints Church in Okehampton at the end of this month.

Special guest preacher at the service will be the Rev Dennis Kayamba from All Saints Cathedral in Nkhotakota, on the shores of Lake Malawi.

The Rev Russell Chamberlain said: 'The special service is all part of a millennium project to provide altar furnishings.

'The work has been done by Angela Dewa, a master embroiderer from Kent, at a cost of just under £5,000.'

The altar furnishings feature several colours, including purple representing service, green for growth and faith, red for the spirit and white for the journey of faith.

Mr Chamberlain said the service was a dual event as it was also linking in with celebrations for the Queen Mother's 100th birthday.

After the service there will be a lunch, following by the annual meeting of the Friends of All Saints.

The service takes place at 11am on Sunday July 30.
