JUST before half-term, a short act of worship in church, initiated by Exeter Diocese, inducted Julie Tailyour into her new role as headteacher at Buckland Monachorum's St. Andrew's School.

It was a happy whole school gathering, with parents in attendance.

Mrs Tailyour had chosen two hymns.

Sharon Mitchell read from 1 Corinthians 13, and the children presented prayers they had written, as well as beautifully carved wooden insignia.

Richard Maudsley, the diocesan area director, spoke affirmatively about the school, and presented Mrs Tailyour with an inscribed Bible, a newer translation entitled The Message.

Mrs Tailyour then spoke of her sense of privilege and calling in leading the school, before the concluding prayer.

Afterwards parents and staff returned for refreshments.

Thanks were expressed to Mrs Knight who coordinated the different parts of the service.
