MID Devon Pony Club members had a highly successful weekend at Tiverton PC?s annual tetrathlon, winning the senior girls, junior girls and novice junior team events, with individual wins in those three classes.

At Saturday?s triathlon, there were wins for the senior, junior and mini girls? teams, second place for the novice juniors and individual wins in the senior and mini girls? classes.

The senior girls? team of Laura and Sarah Gomersall and Jess Trerise was in great form, coming first, fourth and third in the triathlon, Laura having best shoot and Sarah best run. Sarah then rode a beautiful clear round over the difficult Cuckoo?s Nest course to move ahead of Jess in the tetrathlon places.

The junior girls class proved a tough competition with the team of Charlotte and Rebecca Rowe and Ellen Bright showing fine form to win both the tri and the tetrathlon.

Charlotte came second in the triathlon with the best swim while Rebecca finished fourth. The junior riding course was challenging with only two clear rounds in the class but some sensible riding saw the girls improve their positions, Charlie winning, and Rebecca moving up to third place.

The novice junior team of Jessica Mortimore, Lucy Almond, William Leech and newcomer Ceri Knox did brilliantly to finish in second place in the triathlon where Jessica came second with the best run, William came fifth and Ceri shot 900 in her first ever competition.

On Sunday the team all rode well to move up into first place with Jessica and Lucy both going clear. Jessica won the class, William came fourth and Lucy sixth.

The mini girls? team of Lottie Trerise, Rosa Malseed, Jessica Jeffery and Martha Bright kept the Mid Devon flag flying, winning the triathlon team prize, with Lottie winning the class and Rosa coming sixth. In the cross-country phase, Jessica rode a great round for her first attempt at this level.

Finally, Mid Devon welcomed two newcomers for the mini boys? class, Chris Courtier and Edward Almond both showed great promise for the future.

Mid Devon Pony Club will be holding their mini tetrathlon on May 22/23 at Okehampton Pool and the Grange Equestrian Centre.
