WEST Devon employers affected by the automatic enrolment pension system that launches in 2018 are being invited to a free seminar at Okehampton Business Centre to learn more about how it could affect their business.

By 2018, every employer in the UK will have to provide a suitable workplace pension scheme for their workers. Employers will have to automatically enrol many of their workers and pay contributions for them. The scheme is called 'automatic enrolment' because it is automatic for staff, though employers will have to take steps to make sure staff are enrolled and to choose a scheme to enrol into.

Automatic enrolment will be phased in over the next few years. Each employer has been allocated a start date known as a staging date which is dependent on the number of employees in the PAYE scheme.
