A SELF-defence course for women will start in the new year in Tavistock. Since the Tavistock martial arts group started classes in May 2002 they have received numerous requests from women about self-defence classes. Umberto, the course instructor said: ?It?s great that we are now in the position to offer these courses to women in Tavistock and the surrounding area.? ?Women are more vulnerable than men to physical assault and sometimes the consequences are tragic. ?The aim of this course is to raise awareness but more importantly to impart some basic self-defence knowledge which may one day save someone?s life.? The course, which will be held at the Ordulph Arms, starts on February 2 and will run every Wednesday for eight weeks.
