MASTER Chef Peter Gorton of the Horn of Plenty is aiming to encourage youngsters to get cooking.
In an effort to get children from the area involved in this year?s first ever Tavistock Food Festival, Peter is inviting primary schools in West Devon to take part ? with the chance of a special prize for one lucky school.
He is asking children to submit a seasonal recipe, using produce like meat, fish, or cheese which can be sourced locally.
Peter will choose the best recipe, which he will cook during the final demonstration of the festival.
?I?d like to get the children involved on the day,? said Peter.
?I?ve got special small aprons for them.
?We?ll have some fun at the festival, and then I?ll take my new demonstration kitchen to the winning school, set it up and do a special cooking day with the kids,? he said.
Peter hopes to see one savoury recipe submitted from every school in the borough.
Schools should send their recipes for the food festival to Peter Gorton at the Horn of Plenty, Gulworthy, Devon, PL19 8JD by Friday July 16.
