TAVISTOCK's county councillor has paid tribute to the army of 'secret litter pickers' who take time to pick up discarded rubbish around the town.

Cllr Debo Sellis told members of Tavistock Town Council that she had seen many 'anonymous, good-hearted, community-minded residents' who picked up rubbish that other, not so community-minded people had decided to drop in the streets and open spaces around the town.

Cllr Sellis said: 'I do not know their names and one I thanked recently said he didn't want to give his name — they do a great job and I'd like to say thank you to this secret army!'
