Okeh?pton Seconds 1 OPM A 2 AFTER two weeks off Okehampton were looking to build on their improving season as they hosted the second placed team in the league. Okehampton started brightly, taking the game to their opponents, creating good chances early on, and their forwards causing problems. Pushing forward, trying to score the opening goal, they were hit on the counter-attack and the visitors opened the scoring. Not too down-hearted, Okehampton went straight on the attack - again winning a short corner. Nick Luxton?s fierce strike was turned around the post by a defender on the line. Luxton then raced on to a great ball from Luke Miller, forcing the keeper into a good save. Okehampton were dominating when Mark Parsons and Luxton combined to set up Jacob Lloyd who couldn?t quite get the ball in. Eventually their pressure paid off when Lloyd got on the end of a through ball to slide the ball past the oncoming keeper. They should have extended their scoring when Parsons had a run and shot which hit both posts before coming back into play, and at half time it was all square. The second half began in the same way the first had finished, with Okehampton taking the game to the opposition. For the first time in the game OPMs had a period of possession which saw keeper Andrew Harvey acrobatically save and Okehampton?s defence make excellent interventions. From a short corner the visitors took full advantage by scoring to take the lead. Okehampton piled forward, looking for an equaliser, with both Luxton and Lloyd having great chances, the forwards creating opportunities with brilliant build up play. In the end they couldn?t find an equaliser. Thanks go to Richard Jones and Jennie Humphreys for umpiring. l This week Oke Seconds are at home to Plymouth Marjons D.
