Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier Divsion Tavistock Seconds 3 Bude 2 FIELDING a number of recently signed players for the start of the season in a new league, Tavistock got off to an encouraging start. Fifteen minutes into the game a delightful through ball from the midfield found Gary Attwood who slotted it past the Bude keeper to give Tavistock the lead. Tavistock began to take the game to Bude, creating well crafted chances with some fine creative play. Only a couple of decent saves from the Bude keeper kept them in the game. Against the run of play Bude grabbed an equaliser 17 minutes later when a floating corner was dropped by the Tavistock keeper and bundled over the line by Dan Middleton. The home side began to lose concentration with unforced errors creeping into their game. Bude wasted no time in capitalising on the confusion with a second goal five minutes later, after a defensive error allowed Tommy Statton a clear shot on goal. Two minutes into the second half the visitors were awarded a hotly disputed penalty and it looked to be all over for Tavistock, but to relief of the home side and supporters the ball flew ten yards over the bar. Tavistock began to fight their way back into the game and Gary Attwood pouncing on a well placed through ball from Paul Cowling made the scoreline even at 2-2. Both teams struggled in the later part of the second half for that elusive goal until two minutes from time Cowling lobbed the keeper who appeared to drop the ball into his own net, securing the match for Tavistock.
