TAMAR Valley residents are being offered the chance to visit homeowners who are using energy saving technologies.
The initiative by Transition Tavistock and Tamar Valley AONB follows the success of a similar day held in Tavistock last month where nine home-owners in and around the town 'opened their doors' to the public.
The second event, covering the wider Tamar Valley area, is on Saturday, March 10, starting at the Tamar Valley Centre at Drakewalls.
A series of short talks starting at 10am will give ideas of how to install energy conservation and renewable energy measures at home and there will be advice from suppliers, installers and other experts
These include local builders The Fell Partnership and Steve Cox and renewable energy specialists New Generation Energy and Devon Action for Renewable Energy.
Ben Dancer from West Devon Borough Council will be on hand to answer any planning queries and there will be advice available on grant schemes such as Cozy Devon and 'Private Landlords for Energy Action'.
A selection of 'Open Homes' from across the Tavy and Tamar Valley areas will be available to visit from 10am to 4pm. People can visit them individually or join one of the minibus tours setting out from the centre at 10.45am and 1.30pm.
Tour places can be booked in advance at http://www.transitiontavistock.org.uk">www.transitiontavistock.org.uk
The programme will be available to view online or download from March 1.
The day will conclude with a talk and discussion about how local communities are able to develop their own community energy network. Professor Stephen Frankel will be leading the discussion.
