Devon & Exeter League Premier Division

Seaton Town 2

Okehampton Argyle 0

WITH just one point separating these two clubs it was expected to be a close game, but Seaton had different ideas and got off to a flying start.

From their first attack a long cross from the left flank found Stephen Grigg unmarked, coming in from the right wing, to slot the ball past Chris Dearing and put the home side one up.

Argyle had another fright not long after when keeper Dearing was well off his line when a lob from Matthews looked certain to be going into the net, but Dearing managed to scramble back and catch the ball on the line,

Although Argyle started to play attractive one-touch football, their finishing did not match their approach work.

Good chances fell to James Williams, Robbie Miller and Stuart Cann, but all failed at the last hurdle.

Probably the closest Argyle came to scoring in the first half was from a Seaton defender?s back pass, which beat the keeper and just went wide of the upright.

Argyle?s attempt to get back into the game disappeared on the hour, when a similar goal to their first was conjured up by Seaton. This time a long cross from right to left found Ollie Highet, who kicked his spot past the stranded Dearing.

Both sides made further chances in the closing ten to 15 minutes, but both keepers kept their goals intact.

Argyle complete their league fixtures this weekend with first an away game to St Martin?s on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

On Monday evening May 10 they entertain Exeter University at Simmons Park with a 6.30pm kick-off.

The Okehampton Cup final between Okehampton and Hatherleigh takes place at Okehampton?s Simmons Park on May 16 with a 3pm kick off.
