A VACANCY has arisen on Callington Town Council following the resignation of Cllr Sue Nettle.

A public notice advertising the vacancy will be published on April 16. A by-election will be held if ten or more electors come forward to request one and more than one person puts their name forward. If not the council will co-opt someone onto the authority.

Mrs Nettle, who is married to county councillor for Callington Tony Nettle, has served for more than four years. Councillors have expressed thanks for all the hard work and dedication Mrs Nettle had put in over the years.

A by-election will cost the council in the region of £3,000.
