THE new season of Kelly College Concert Society chamber music recitals kicks off at 7.30pm on Wednesday September 13 with a public reception and performances, in the Melvin Hall by the talented music scholars of Kelly. Admission is free and all music lovers are warmly invited to what promises to be an enjoyable event. Plans for subsequent concerts include a return visit from the internationally renowned violin and piano duo, Peter Fisher and Peter Hewitt, and the South West Sinfonietta Chamber Ensemble will be making their Tavistock debut. The Countess of Munster Musical Trust are sponsoring Daniel de Borah?s piano recital in October, and the Foster Charitable Trust have made it possible for the Czech Herold String Quartet to play to the society in March 2007. A feature of this season?s series is the focus on the double-reed instruments. Jennie-Lee Keetley, one of the most notable musicians of the younger generation, will be demonstrating the oboe; and Britain?s leading virtuoso of the bassoon, Laurence Perkins, will be highlighting the romantic sound of his instrument ? on St Valentine?s Day 2007. This concert will include the first public performance of the Bassoon Sonata by Tavistock composer and Kelly College director of music, Andrew Wilson.
