Yelverton 2
Ordulph FC 4
ORDULPH manager Mark Piper was without key players but however had faith in the players at his disposal to earn three vital points. The Ordulph took an early lead, after Ben Stephens sidefooted home from just inside the box and it looked as if the visitors would run away with the game but Yelverton equalised soon after as they caught the Ordulph out with a quickly taken free kick, which Shaun Moloney could only spill into strikers McQuire's path.
The match was a real scrappy game, with strong winds and a heavy pitch. Paul Gliddon thought he had scored but the defender cleared superbly off the line. After Ordulph's James Phillpotts had a claim for a penalty turned down, Yelverton took the lead with a wind assisted free kick causing havoc in the Ordulph box, where McQuire was on hand to stab home his second.
Ordulph responded quickly and Gareth Pattons quickly taken free kick allowed Phillpotts to turn and volley in the equaliser.
The second half was slightly better for the visitors as they created a few chances but had to wait for the third goal —a great run by Matt Smallacombe, saw his shot saved only for the rebound to be tapped in by Ben Stephens. Smallacombe made another good run down the wing and his ball in saw for captain Paul Hoskin to drill home his first of the season. Ordulph saw out the game but Hoskin should have added a fifth when after a brilliant cross by Joel Anderson, Hoskin headed over from a yard out.
