WEST Devon district scouts will this Wednesday join 28 million scouts from around the world to promise peace and tolerance. Wednesday is the key date for the centenary celebrations which are occurring across the globe during 2007 and will signify a new dawn for scouting. West Devon scouts will meet at the top of Cox Tor at 7.30am on August 1 to renew their promise at 8am, and will be joined by Tavistock mayor Anne Johnson and West Devon mayor Dennis Bater. Any beavers, cubs, explorers, network, fellowship, scouters and any past members are welcome to join in the celebrations. The scouting movement aims to create a better world through educating young people to play a constructive role in society and by offering challenge and adventure to both young people and adult volunteers.
