FIVE members of Stoke Climsland Scout Group are celebrating after receiving top awards — four of whom were able to attend the county scout awards presentation ceremony at County Hall, Truro.

Scouts Paul Thomas and Henry Clarke both received their Chief Scout gold award, the highest award in the scout section of the movement.

Explorer Scouts Jess Tait and Lewis Reid — and Tamar Davis, who was unable to attend — have  completed their bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Awards. Both Lewis and Tamar worked as young leaders with a cub pack and scout troop locally for their service section, while Jess helped with activities at a primary school's after-school club.

• Four of the five Stoke Climsland Scouts who won top awards — Paul Thomas, Jess Tait, Henry Clarke and Lewis Reid.

For their skills section, Lewis improved his IT skills to create a new website for a forest school, Tamar attended an after school maths club and Jess developed her public speaking skills.

The award also encouraged Jess to improve her rugby skills, Tamar to take up a fitness regime at the school gym and Lewis took part in climbing at a local centre.

All three completed a practice expedition on Bodmin Moor, near Colliford Lake and an assessed expedition in the Lanreath and Lansallos area.
