Devon & Exeter Premier Division
Okehampton Argyle 1
Pinhoe 3
ROB Clark was first to test the Pinhoe keeper, forcing him to make a great one-handed save after just seven minutes.
This early pressure continued and after 17 minutes a right wing cross was picked up by Robbie Sandercock and although the keeper got a hand to his powerful shot, he could not prevent the ball crossing the line.
Pinhoe created several chances during the first half but Argyle?s defence held firm until five minutes before the break. Then a long cross reached Carl Lavis who, for the first time completely unmarked, steadied himself before shooting into the net via the underside of the crossbar.
Robbie Sandercock went close for Argyle early in the second half, but side-footed wide when well placed.
The shooting was more accurate at the other end, however, as first Mark Andrews put Pinhoe ahead after a defensive mix-up left him the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net.
Then ten minutes into the half Chris Payne put Pinhoe further ahead with a fine goal which gave Sandercock no chance.
For the last half hour Pinhoe?s keeper became the busiest player on the pitch, and although Argyle fired everything but the kitchen sink at him he managed to keep them from scoring again.
Argyle were maybe a little unlucky to be on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline, which now puts them in joint bottom position again.
There will be no easy task again next week when they travel to Exeter University, kick off 3pm.
