Plymouth City 5 Tavistock 2nds 2 AN evenly balanced first half saw chances created at both ends, but with neither team managing to gain an advantage until the 40th minute. Failure to clear the ball efficiently following a sustained attack from Plymouth City resulted in Tavistock conceding the first goal. Five minutes later a long ball through the centre caught the Tavistock defence out of position and the second from Plymouth was in the net. Before Tavistock could regain their composure the home side took advantage and Tavistock were picking the ball out of the net for the third time within seven minutes. Tavistock came out for the second half with a slightly re-arranged team, but still vulnerable to the long centre ball and within five minutes the Tavistock defence was penetrated and the goalkeeper was given little chance. Tavistock refused to surrender and continued to keep up pressure on the Plymouth City goal which resulted in two fine headed goals from Craig Hodge, both from set pieces. Despite a spirited effort to increase their score, Tavistock succumbed to a poorly defended 5th goal. A score line that doesn?t do justice to Tavistock?s overall performance.
