THE final of the Okehampton Rotary Club primary schools quiz saw three heat winners, Lifton, Bow and Exbourne Primary School, joined by the highest runner-up, North Tawton Primary.
The heats involved 13 local schools who each put in two teams.
The final, held in the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton, consisted of nine rounds of questions taken from maths, English, spelling, science, history, geography, general knowledge and a fun picture puzzle round.
The eventual winning team was Exbourne Primary, who won not only certificates, but also a book of facts and a school dictionary each.
The school was given a selection of books for their library, a cheque for £100 and the perpetual cup — they took it over from last year's winners, Bow Primary.
The prizes where presented to the winners by Rotary District Governor Jeremy Tucker.
The schools who hosted the heats were also presented with a donation of £50 from the president of Okehampton Rotary Club, Mike Macklin.
He said: 'I was very impressed with the standards achieved by the children and I struggled at times with some of the questions!
'All the children were very well behaved and excellently turned out and have proved themselves a credit to their schools and parents.'
Mr Macklin expressed thanks to all the schools who hosted the events and the parents and teachers who put themselves out in order to ensure the children where able to take part.
