A PROPOSED partnership between Tavistock's Kelly College and the Plymouth independent girls' school St Dunstan's Abbey has fallen through.
The partnership was announced last October. It was intended to ensure the financial future of St Dunstan's — and bring a wide range of benefits to Kelly.
The breakdown has been greeted with 'great disappointment' by the governors of Kelly College, who felt the two schools shared a similar ethos and philosophy of education.
David Milford, chairman of governors, said: 'Kelly College remains committed to providing a high quality education for both boys and girls, in an outstanding location and caring atmosphere.'
St Dunstan's is now set to merge with Plymouth College. From September, the senior schools will become one co-educational school called Plymouth College, based at Ford Park. The junior schools will join in September 2005 to become one co-educational school on St Dunstan's present site. It will be known as St Dunstan's Abbey School — The Plymouth College Junior School.
