FOLLOWING a fantastic centenary reunion, former pupils and staff of Highampton Community Primary School have made some splendid donations to their former school.

The committee who organised the event have used the profits raised by the reunion to purchase an outdoor wooden sitting bench, along with educational construction toys, which they have now donated to the school.

A banner produced especially for the reunion has also been donated to the school for use at future events, and the committee also donated a guest book signed by many former pupils and staff members to the Highampton Local History Group.

The school's head teacher Mrs Barnett said: 'The new centenary bench is a fantastic gift to the school, it will be lovely for the children to use in the summer.

'They've been asking for somewhere to sit outside and this will be perfect as we have the most amazing views from our playground.

'We're very grateful to everyone who was involved.'

The reunion, marking the important date in the history of the school, was held in the village hall in October and was attended by over 400 guests. As well as inviting current pupils, staff and their families, the organising committee traced as many former pupils and staff members as possible through the local community and spreading the word about the reunion via the press, newsletters and the internet.
