BIRTHDAY girl Margaret Mills likes flowers.

But she got more blooms than she bargained for on her 87th birthday. Relatives and friends sent a total of nine bouquets which filled her living room with a blaze of colour.

Margaret, of King Street, Tavistock, said: 'I thought I'd get some flowers — but I didn't imagine I'd get as many as these! I have always loved flowers. My dad was a big flower show man. He exhibited and he had three silver cups from the Tavistock Flower Show,' she said.

On her birthday she was taken out for a meal at Mary Tavy and then came back to the Royal British Legion.

'I didn't get home until midnight!' said Margaret , sitting amidst her bunches of birthday flowers.
