LIFTON Cottage Garden Society and WI's 32nd horticultural show was held on the first Saturday in August — on a Saturday for the first time.

It attracted 48 exhibitors entering more than 250 exhibits. This was an increase on last year but the recent hot weather affected the number of entries in the vegetable and flower sections. Those that were there showed the usual high standard.

Entries in the floral art and cookery classes were up on previous years and these, along with the handicraft, children's and photography classes, made plenty for the viewing public to enjoy.

President Anthony Phillips introduced the Rev Timothy Deacon who was presented with a buttonhole by Keira Moore. Mr Deacon congratulated the winners and presented the cups as follows:
