HAVE you have given an aluminium drinks can or bag of clean aluminium foil for recycling in the last year?

If you have you can share the credit for improving the local landscape when 24 native tree saplings awarded to West Devon Borough Council are delivered in the next few weeks.

The trees have been given by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro).

The donation is part of a nationwide initiative to boost recycling with a tree being planted this winter for every tonne of aluminium cans and foil returned for recycling. In total, enough trees will be planted to cover 900 football pitches when fully grown.

?As the trees grow to maturity they will give some sense of how energy saved by getting into the habit of recycling builds into real environmental improvement,? said Alupro chief executive Paul Martin.

?Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this result, and please keep recycling so we can plant more trees next year.?

The trees will be planted locally this month.
