TAVISTOCK Rotary Club's Santamobile raised lots of money for charity during recent festive street collections.

The Santamobile took Father Christmas to homes all over Tavistock in the run up to Christmas, raising more than £1,800 for local good causes.

Club president Geri Parlby said: 'This is an amazing response, bearing in mind the current economic conditions, and we are very grateful for the public's generosity. We shall use the money to help deserving causes — a donation has already been given towards an event for senior citizens planned for the summer.'

Geri expressed thanks to all the Rotarians who organised the Santamobile and braved the freezing conditions to go from house to house knocking on doors, and to Santa for making time in his busy schedule to speak to the many excited children during his pre-Christmas tour of Tavistock.
