SANTA Claus? preferred mode of transport may be a sleigh drawn by reindeer, but this year he can be found spreading festive cheer in a train carriage!
Every Saturday between November 30 and December 21, children and their parents can visit him in his grotto at the Tamar Belle Heritage Centre next to Bere Ferrers station on the Gunnislake - Plymouth Tamar Valley Line.
The grotto is inside the saloon carriage and guests will be able to enjoy a short ride including festive refreshments like mince pies and punch. Children will all receive personalised gifts from Santa.
Stephanie Green, of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, said: ?A visit to see Santa at the Tamar Belle will make a fun and easy treat for all the family.?
The ?Santa Specials? will take place between 1pm and 2pm on each of the four Saturdays before Christmas, and cost £6 for an adult and child. A family ticket (up to four people) costs £10 and £3 for each additional child.
The times have been arranged especially to fit in with regular train times on the line. Visitors will be able to catch the 12.20pm from Gunnislake, arriving at Bere Alston 20 minutes later, and then return home on the 2.34pm.
Booking is essential ?call the Heritage Centre on 01822 840044.
All proceeds raised by the ?Santa Specials? will go to the Tamar Belle Heritage Group Visitor Centre Project.
