HORRABRIDGE engineer Sam Hurdwell has been awarded membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Sam, who works in Plymouth, has met all the requirements of ICE's member professional review and is now entitled to add the letters MICE to his name.
ICE's professionally qualified grades of membership are internationally recognised and highly valued.
He was presented with his membership certificate by ICE President, Prof Barry Clarke, at a ceremony held at the ICE headquarters in London.
Trish Johnson, ICE South West regional director, said: 'Civil engineering is an important engineering discipline sitting right at the heart of society.
'Achieving ICE membership is a significant personal and career achievement and we welcome Sam into the ICE.'
Sam, who works for Jubb Consulting Engineers Ltd in Plymouth, said he was very proud to have successfully completed his professional review: 'I enjoy problem solving so civil engineering seemed to fit. Civil engineering covers a wide range of subjects so it's definitely worth considering.'
He became an engineer because he always wanted to work in the built environment. His career highlight so far has been passing his review.
