Duchy Premier St Dominick 4 Lamerton 1 WITH captain Simon Breyley starting a two match ban, this tough away fixture proved even tougher for a disorganised Lamerton team. St Dominick went ahead after fifteen minutes when Mark Loton cleverly flicked in a low Malcolm Wills cross. Ben Rushall equalised ten minutes later. Lamerton were matching their opponents and would have taken the 1-1 score line, with wind and slope to come. Lamerton keeper Peter Daniel denied Jason Gregory with a fine save. However, on forty minutes, Paul Breyley?s man-handling on the edge of the box gave St Dominick a free kick and while Pete Daniel was still organising his wall, Scott Fisher curled his shot into the empty net. The blow was compounded two minutes later when a hopeful launch up field bounced over the Lamerton defence; Wills somehow latched onto and lobbed the rooted Daniel from a tight angle to make it 3-1. The second half saw Lamerton dominate as St Dominick played deep and invited their opponents on. Ten minutes in, Lamerton had a great appeal for a hand ball inside the box turned down by an unsighted referee. Rushall combined with Dan Healy and his shot was parried to Kev Swift who had the goal gaping from six yards; but the awkward height of the ball saw his effort go over the bar and Lamerton?s best chance to get back into the game gone. Stuart Taylor converted a seventieth minute penalty to ease Saints to a comfortable win. This week: home to Polperro, 2.30.pm.
