CONSERVATION and recreation charity South West Lakes Trust will be holding a round of rural skills courses at Roadford Lake near Launceston during the winter months. The courses include a fire workshop, hedge laying and coppicing, and are organised by the Trust's education officer and central area ranger. The fire workshop will be held on Saturday November 25 at 9.30 am until 3.30 pm. The course will offer the opportunity for participants to learn traditional fire making techniques. The cost is £5.00 per adult and £2.50 per child. The coppicing course will be held on Wednesday November 29, 9.00 am until 3.30 pm, when participants can learn the skills of traditional woodland management. The cost is £10.00 per adult. The two hedge laying courses will be held on Sunday December 3 and Sunday January 21, from 9.00 am until 3.30 pm. The cost is £10.00 per person and is available to anyone with an interest in countryside management. Places are strictly limited for all these courses, so booking is essential on 01566 771930.
