WHITCHURCH remain on course for the title after an impressive 81 run victory over Roborough on Saturday.
Hodge (53) and Rotton (54) batted constructively for an opening partnership of 111. From this platform Woodrow blessed the crowd with a majestic 74, accelerating the innings perfectly.
Following an inspirational declaration from skipper Tamblin the Whitchurch pace attack of Ingram (3-42) and Sambells (1-10) immediately proceeded to rip apart the visitor?s top order. However, Roborough were determined not to let the league leaders have everything their own way.
The middle order led by Jordan (56) played positively against Whitchurch?s twin spin attack which has struck fear into the hearts of many opposition teams.
It was left to pace man Alford to make the breakthrough, with variable line and length accompanied by quality fielding from Woodrow, Hodge and Freedman. Alford managed to gain figures of 3-4 leaving Whitchurch with the maximum of 20 points.
