TWO runners have completed an epic 100 mile challenge to raise money for charity.

Steve Penna and Lloyd Marshall ran from Land's End to Okehampton to raise money for Sense, the national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind, and Asthma UK.

They arrived back in the town on Saturday lunchtime to a reception of friends and family, having completed the challenge in 26 hours and 41 minutes. Their efforts have raised around £1,000 so far, with a charity auction this weekend hoping to boost the coffers even further.

Steve said: 'The run was very exhausting. I've managed to make it back to work, and I feel alright as long as I keep moving, but they are teasing me about how much slower I am now.

'It was hard work, especially the last two hours when we hit the bad weather coming into Okehampton. But getting home was good and seeing everyone waiting for us.

'Our support team kept us going throughout the run, walking with us and keeping our moral up. They were immense.'

The duo are holding their auction night at the Copper Key Inn in North Tawton this Saturday from 8pm.

Steve said: 'We have lots of good items to auction. So far we have two 2003 signed England Rugby World Cup winners shirts.

'One is a player's shirt and the second is a supporter's shirt, and both are authentic.

'We also have a Wasps signed rugby shirt, an Exeter Chiefs rugby ball, an Exeter City football signed by the 2011/12 squad, a Leeds United picture signed by the 2010/2011 squad, and we will add more items as they come in. We are hoping to get an item from Arsenal FC.'

There will also be a raffle, hog roast and music on the night.

All are welcome to come along to what promises to be a great evening.
