TAVISTOCK Athletic Club runners have competed at three race venues — two locally and one further afield.
Trevor Williams headed for Anglesey to compete in the marathon. The very scenic but ever-challenging 26.2 mile race, is the highlight of the Anglesey Festival of Running. Trevor ran strongly to finish 94th overall and third in his age category in a time of 4hrs, 7mins, 9secs.
The Bideford 10-miler is a flat and fast affair, set along the Torridge estuary, partly on road and part on the Tarka Trail. Tony Shearer and Jane Carroll both competed, Tony finishing in 1.16.53, and coming third in his M55 category. Jane improved her previous time for the distance by a huge 10 minutes, finishing in 1.37.17.
Newquay 10k race takes runners out towards Crantock and back to the sports centre to finish. The race has been gaining in popularity in recent years, with more than 500 competing earlier this month. Tony Symons kept up his excellent race record, to finish in eighth place overall and second in his M45 age group in a fast 35mins 48seconds, whilst Roger Hewitt came third in his M55 group in 45.44.
The club always welcomes new members of every standard.
