FOUR rising rock stars from Tavistock are to release their brand new single this month. ?Girls and Boys in Love? will be released on Monday, August 27 by one of the most ?hotly? tipped new bands of 2007 ? The Rumble Strips. The band, which features three former Tavistock College students, have had a rollercoaster year with tours and festivals of plenty. The new single is not only a summer anthem in waiting, but has also been chosen by comedy actor Simon Pegg as the main theme for his new film, ?Run Fatboy Run?. It is directed by former star of TV?s Friends David Schwimmer, and the single feature in trailers leading up to the film?s release on September 7, and in the film itself. The band consists of Charlie Waller, lead vocals and guitar; Henry Clark, keyboards and trumpet; Tom Gorbutt, saxophone and bass; and Matthew Wheeler, drums. Clocking in at two and a half minutes, the track is taken from the band?s eagerly awaited debut album ?Girls and Weather?, due out on September 10. The single?s release follows their Glastonbury and T in the Park shows with sets at all the major summer festivals, and is before their first concert in Tavistock since the band?s formation. For their ?Taste of Devon? tour the band members will find themselves re-united with their home town. The gig will take place on Tuesday, August 14 at the Wharf. Tickets are on sale now for £6.50.
