AN artist considered the ‘current, most popular’ in the country has created a piece of work specially to be donated as the first prize in this year’s Tavistock Lions Club Christmas Draw.
The Hawkins family, owners of the Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery, have been generously supporting the Lions Club for many years by providing framed pictures for the first prize in the club’s Carnival and Christmas draws.
Richard Jones, president of the Lions Club, said he was delighted that this Christmas was no exception and that the picture that has been donated by the gallery is by Rozanne Bell.
The mixed media picture, which was specially commissioned for the draw, is of Tavistock viewed from the top of West Street looking towards St Eustachius’ Church and onward to Dartmoor. Judging by the success of Rozanne’s recent exhibition at the gallery, tickets for the draw are set to be much in demand this year.
Tickets for the Christmas draw are available from Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery on Plymouth Road Industrial Estate and their shop in Duke Street; or from members of the Lions Club who will be selling tickets in the Co-op store in Market Street on Thursday, November 19; in Morrisons on Friday, November 27 during the morning and early afternoon and also all day on Saturday, November 28; as well as in the Pannier Market during Dickensian Evening.
The draw will take place in the Tavy Club on Monday, December 14, where there will be a host of other prizes available, including a Brittany Ferries travel voucher worth £150 donated by Tee Time Golf Breaks and a Boeing 737-800 simulator experience donated by the Chudleigh-based virtual jet company.
