CARNIVALS may be the last thing on everyone's mind at the moment but the search is on for young ladies who would like to become the first Hatherleigh carnival queen of the new millennium.
Candidates must be aged 12 or over by carnival day (November 11) and live in the parish of Hatherleigh, Highampton or Meeth.
All applicants will be asked to sell draw tickets in aid of the carnival funds and whoever sells the most will be this year's carnival queen. She will receive a grant and ten per cent of all ticket sales over £100.
Queens may stand independently or on behalf of an organisation who will receive the largest percentage of any carnival profits for their designated group or charity.
Anyone can find out more from Mandy Wonnacott on 01837 810678 by Friday April 25.
