A DIVA night held in Tavistock Town Hall saw former X-Factor contestant Rowetta Satchell belt out popular tunes to help raise money for Tavistock Community Football Club.
A backing singer for 90s band the Happy Mondays, Rowetta sang Diva numbers for the evening, and was supported by Tavistock band Kitty and the Lost Boys, and two boys Soul and Mark from the football club's under 11s team who entertained with Michael Jackson moves.
Allen Lewis, from Tavistock Community Football Club and organiser of the event, was pleased with the evening but slightly disappointed with the turnout: 'I find it hard to understand why the event was poorly supported when the upkeep of the new facilities at Crowndale need funds to run the place and pitches. Everyone who will use the community football club must realise that it takes money to help keep it in top-class condition and the pitches in good order.
'Rowetta is such a super performer and person, really caring about people she can help along the way. She showed real humour in between her singing and created a lovely atmosphere for all that were in the hall and was very encouraging to the two boys Soul and Mark. I would like to thank the staff from the town hall who were so polite and professional and to the manager of the Bedford Hotel for looking after our special guest.'
