ROWING Marine Lee Spencer has thanked everyone for their support as he celebrated being featured in the latest edition of the Guinness Book of Records.

Lee, from Horrabridge, became the first person with a physical disability to row solo across the Atlantic — also smashing the record held by an able-bodied person for going the distance — in March this year.

After receiving his own copy of the book, which features a picture of him alongside his records, he announced on Facebook: ‘Admittedly I’m on the last page along with the longest lived tapier and the largest plane, but anyone who grew up with the Record Breakers will understand how much of a big deal this is. I never dreamt that one day I’d be in it.

‘A massive thank you to everyone who followed me as I rowed but a very special thank you to all my sponsors. I could never have done it without your belief in me and your support.’
