THE Rotary Club of Tavistock was pleased to present a cheque to the Farming Community Network recently. The club attended a presentation the The Bedford Hotel given by Sue Tucker about the charity which is involved in providing confidential, non-judgemental support to all those in need of help in the farming community, whether the issue is related to the farm business or the farm household. The charity works with other national farm charities RABI and The Addington Fund in the farming community, giving a wide range of complementary support. The Rotary Club presented the Farming Community Network with a cheque for £200 in support of the work with the local farming community. Club president John Morton said: 'Farming continues to be a major part of local life. The farmers contribute so much to our local economy, including the stewardship of the countryside attracting many people into the area, benefiting other businesses. 'We will also see if some of the Rotary members can be volunteers in providing advice, working with the charity.'
