MEMBERS of the new Lamerton Community and Sports Centre this week were 'cueing up' to thank Tavistock Rotary Club for its £250 contribution to the centre's new pool table. Parish hall committee chairman Valerie Hill welcomed Rotary Club president Tony Whitehead, Cllr Robin Pike, members of the hall committee and Rotary Club and young people from Lamerton at the official opening of the table. Mrs Hill thanked Tavistock Rotary Club for their contribution and said the new pool table had enhanced the Wednesday evening indoor sports events. Pool and snooker could now be offered, in addition to badminton and table tennis. Mr Whitehead said: 'Tavistock Rotary Club is proud of its record of supporting local causes and is delighted to contribute in this way, particularly as the youngsters have matched our donation to buy this very popular pool table. 'We wish the new community centre every success.' Mr Whitehead played a game on the new table, purely, of course, to satisfy himself that Rotary money had been well spent!
