THE proceeds of the Okehampton Rotary Club Easter coffee morning were last week donated to the ChildLine charity at a presentation in the town.

Club president Russell Thomas and community officer Ernie Heaysman made the £250 donation to Esther Pearson, of ChildLine, at the White Hart Hotel.

Mr Thomas said: 'We thank all those who attended the coffee morning and helped us to raise this wonderful sum for ChildLine.

'We chose ChildLine to benefit when we heard the charity had recently opened a counselling centre in Devon.

'We are delighted to be able to contribute in this way and help ChildLine to answer even more calls from desperate children across the South West.'

Ms Pearson said: 'We are very grateful to all the rotary members, their wives and everyone who attended this very well supported event.

'The money raised will help ChildLine keep its lines open, helping local children in trouble or danger.'

ChildLine receives around 310 calls every week from children in the EX postcode area who are troubled by a wide variety of problems including abuse, bullying and family worries.
