MEMBERS of Tavistock Rotary Club greeted a 67-year-old charity walker as he passed through the town during a fund-raising mission.
The club presented a £50 cheque to Douglas Cox who stopped off in Tavistock during his walk from John O'Groats to Land's End, raising money for Help for Heroes.
Douglas, an ex-Royal Engineer living in Bridford, has raised more than £25,000 from two previous walks for the charity.
This time he walked more than 1,000 miles averaging 20 miles a day.
Douglas said that Rotary clubs throughout the country had greatly assisted him by providing advice about the route and overnight accommodation as well as help with the fundraising.
