OKEHAMPTON Rotary Club raised a grand total of £4,000 when it held a charity golf day on Sunday, April 15.

The competition had 30 teams of four playing over the day and the money raised will be spent on youth and sports clubs.

President of the club Allenton Fisher said: 'I am delighted with the amount raised and we all look forward to our next charity golf day which will be on Wednesday, July 22 at Ashbury.

'We all give a huge vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Simon Essex, of the Manor House Hotel, who offer their facilities to us for the day.'

The winning team was Gregory's Transport with 88 points and following in close second were Waverley Pin Hitters with 87 points.

In third were SW Highways with 86 points and fourth Okehampton Dream Team with 83 points.

Not content with just coming second, a member of the Waverley team managed the golfer's dream of a hole-in-one.
