THE Rotary Club of Tavistock has had another successful year raising funds for charity at Goosey Fair.

The club's two geese were the only geese to appear on the main fair site in Plymouth Road. More than 800 attempts were made to guess the combined weight of the geese on Abbey Surgery's lawn.

The event was won by C Cooper, of Pew Tor Close, Tavistock, with his guess of 26lbs 3ozs and it made a net sum of over £350 for charity.

The club's other stall sold more than 600 books with an income of £330.

Rotary Club president Wally Lake said the club enjoyed showing the geese as it reminded the crowds what Goose Fair was all about – and it raised money for charity.
