AS part of a major new primetime television series for Channel 4, RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington has been approached by the renowned gardening team of Ros and Keith Wiley.
Keith is the former garden manager of The Garden House in Buckland Monachorum, and he and Ros will help Rosemoor to publicise their exciting new garden that they are creating, where natural landscapes are the inspiration for both planting and painting.
As Rosemoor runs a lively events programme in the area, it was approached by the Wileys to hold an art exhibition – 'Inspiration from the Wildside' - to showcase and sell Ros' work. Ros began painting around 30 years ago, gaining her inspiration from the lush Devon landscape. The exhibition will be held at Rosemoor from May 1 to 4.
Keith will also give a talk entitled 'On the wild side — an experiment in new naturalism' to help raise money, at 2pm on Friday, May 1. This will look at the treasure trove of gardening ideas to be found in nature, from under our noses to far-flung corners of the globe.
The Channel 4 programme is currently being filmed, and will follow the Wileys during a year of their endeavours balancing painting, gardening and nursery work (due to be broadcast later in 2009). A small camera crew will be filming Keith's talk and the gallery exhibition of Ros' artwork as part of their journey.
Normal garden entry applies to the exhibition.
Tickets for the talk are available at £14 (£8 for RHS members).
