RODNEY Browne won the 2005 veterans? competition at Hurdwick Golf Club and was awarded the Hurdwickian Trophy for the second time in three years. He also enjoyed success in the July midweek stableford, taking third place with 35 points. In first place was Clive Edmunds, with an excellent 41 points, followed by Steve Howells in second spot with 40 points. The monthly medal was held in summer conditions and the scoring was extremely good. Winner was Tom Backaller with an outstanding net 58 followed by Rob Archer with net 63 and Roger Downing with 65. Chris Tear and Roger Downing won the ?twos? sweep. Hurdwick members congratulated Peter Brookbank and Sally Arscott who won the Churston Golf Club mixed greensomes open with 37 points. Sally also won the prize for being nearest the pin on the selected hole. It was a good week for being near the pin as member Mike Ridley achieved similar success at the Whitsand Bay Veterans? Open.
