ROCK Taxis played together on Sunday for the last time in the first division of the Tavistock and District Netball League.
They have been together as a team since the age of 12 and have played in the league for the last five years.
Facing Westcon they knew the match would not be easy and being a player down they were already at a disadvantage.
The players took their positions on court, determined that nothing was going to deter them from giving their all.
Both teams' game plans were evenly matched, using the court well. Although a player short, Rock Taxis created good space with all players thinking and positioning themselves well.
Rock Taxis took the lead in the first and second quarter but only by a small margin. Westcon fought hard, bringing the score all square by the end of the third quarter.
The final quarter was packed full of energy as both teams were inspired by the close score to pick up the pace and battle for the win.
It was victory for Rock Taxis — but only just, by 37 goals to 36.
Their first win of the season obtained in their last match.
Nominated player of the match for Westcon was their centre.
Rock Taxis Netball team: Sarah Callow, Katy Bruce, Anna Holton, Helen Maiden, Katy Olver, Abi Weake, Nicola Gude and Michelle Anstis expressed thanks to Richard and Sue Callow, who have sponsored and stuck by the team throughout their time in the league.
