Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Lamerton 3
Roche 0
IN their final home game of the season Lamerton got off to a good start when, after five minutes, Paul Breyley headed in a Paul Cowling cross.
They played some good football but a combination of bad luck and poor finishing kept the visitors in the game. Just before half-time, however, Lee Wickett skilfully hooked the ball over the head of the Roche keeper to put his side two up and register his fifth goal for the club over the week.
The second half saw Lamerton relax and they only added to their score in the last five minutes when sub Daren Sambells scored from close range.
The result guarantees Lamerton third place in the league and they must wait to see if promotion comes their way.
Earlier in the week they went out of the Divisional Cup semi-final, losing 4-3 at St Stephen?s Borough with Steve Wickett getting two and brother Lee scoring the third from a penalty.
On Thursday night they bounced back with a 3-0 win over a lively Tavistock U18s side in the Chairman?s Cup. Lee Wickett bagged all three, the best being a header from a Steve Gibbings cross from the left.
This week sees a Chairman?s Cup semi-final against Buckland at Langsford Park today (Thursday) 7pm kick-off, and on Saturday they are away to Tintagel in the league, 2.30pm kick-off.
