Wadebridge Colts 12

Tavistock Colts 24

TAVISTOCK demonstrated their intention to use their talented backs to run the ball from the first moments of the game.

From their first possession they spun the ball left and when wing Rob Williams was stopped it was moved back to the right where James Radford made good ground. The move only broke down when the ball was adjudged to have been knocked on by a Tavistock forward.

Tavistock kept the pressure on and good loose ball was supplied in midfield by Hamish Pearse Danker and Richard Huish which allowed scrum half Josh Sutton to chip the Wadebridge defence. Seb Roberts steamed through from full back to touch down for the try.

Wadebridge hit back immediately. Fly half Doug Lloyd stemmed the attack in midfield but the ball was moved wide for an excellent try through the Wadebridge left wing.

Tavistock kept moving the ball wide and were unlucky to have Williams bundled into touch within a metre of the Wadebridge line.

Further pressure resulted in Wadebridge conceding a penalty which Tavistock kicked to touch close to the Wadebridge line. The lineout throw from Ben Sutton was expertly collected by Andrew Barwick.

Tavistock drove the maul forward and Josh Sutton powered over from short range for the try. Roberts converted.

After half-time Wadebridge kept Tavistock pinned in their own 22 for the first ten minutes and desperate defence was required from Duncan Law and James Radford to keep them out.

Tavistock stormed back deep into the Wadebridge half. They were rewarded with a try from Rob Emmett who charged down an attempted clearance kick and pounced on the ball to score.

Tavistock were denied a further score when flanker Phil Maloney was adjudged to be offside with the try line at his mercy.

However Tavistock did extend their lead when centre Lawrence Evans ghosted through to score by the posts. Roberts converted. Wadebridge hit back in the last minute to record a consolation try.

Man of the match: Duncan Law.
