BBC 1's popular Sunday evening programme Antiques Roadshow will film part of its 32nd series at Morwellham Quay.

Some of Britain's leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand at the quay on June 25 to offer free advice and valuations to visitors — people are invited to raid their attics and bring along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car boot bargains for inspection by the experts.

Morwellham site manager Anthony Power said having the roadshow at the quay was something of a coup.

'We expressed an interest last year and some of the production staff came down, but they were fully booked for this year.

'But the venue for June 25 had to pull out so they came to us and we said yes,' Mr Power said.

There was a planning meeting last Thursday and the areas used for the show will be Higher Copper Quay, which has been landscaped as an event space, Devon Consols Quay and the Maltings Courtyard.

The programme's presenter is Fiona Bruce, in her second year with the Roadshow. She said exploring the human story behind every object was what made Antiques Roadshow 'so fascinating'.

'The Antiques Roadshow isn't just about antiques — it's history, beauty and drama all wrapped up in one.'

The last series, watched by an average of more than seven and half million viewers, included a glass vase bought for £1 which later sold for £36,000, rare watercolours by an important American artist found on a tip, and that maquette of the Angel of the North valued at £1-million.

People with large pieces of furniture or other big items can send details and photographs of their objects to: Antiques Roadshow, BBC, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8 2LR or e-mail them to: [email protected]">[email protected]

It may be possible to arrange to look at the item in advance and organise transportation to the venue.

Series editor Simon Shaw said the team were all looking forward to visiting Morwellham Quay.

'It's always exciting to see what will come to light on the day. We regularly see between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors on the day. Despite the high turnout everyone will get to see an expert.'

The Roadshow's team will be at the Quay on Thursday June 25. The doors will open at 9.30am and close at 4.30pm.
